Virtual Info Sessions
Learn more about Foster One and how you can reunite a child with their family. Foster parent information sessions are for those interested in learning more about the need for foster families in their county and the steps required to become a foster parent.
The Foster One program is based on the Treatment Foster Care Oregon Model (TFCO). Foster One is a short-term treatment program that gives a child the opportunity to grow and learn positive behavior techniques in a home environment instead of a residential facility or group home. The treatment team, which includes Foster One foster parents, work together to deliver consistent expectations, structure, and guidance as well as patience and kindness. TFCO is evidence-based with proven positive outcomes.
The primary goal of foster care at Together for Youth is reunification. Initially, the foster parent’s role is seen as a temporary one. Over half of children who enter foster care are reunified with their birth parents. We ask our foster parents to support these efforts—including facilitating visitations with birth parents and attending court appearances. Although this may not be a permanent situation, as a foster parent, you are making a permanent, positive impact on the life of a child even once they return to their birth parents or are placed with another relative when that is found to be in his or her best interest.
Together we can help children who need a little extra love and support. This program is available in the Greater Capital Region only. Please call us today to find out more about this wonderful program. Call Sara at 518-207-6898 or email SaraAllen@berkshirefarm.org .
